HOW TO RENT A TUXEDO AND SUIT

Occasions is an award winning formal wear retailer. We’ll guide you step-by-step so even if you don’t know the first thing about how to rent a tuxedo and suit, you’ll walk away with everything you need to look great at your upcoming event.

Do I need to make an appointment?
We prefer that you schedule an appointment during the week.  Appointments are required on Saturdays.

How far in advance should I rent my tuxedo?
We recommend 30 days prior for wedding rentals. Individual rentals ideally should be scheduled no later than 7 days prior to your event however, we can often provide a rental within 24 hours. Prom rentals should be scheduled ASAP. Prom is our busiest season and we can become limited on style, size and color choices. Rush charges can apply for rentals less than 7 days in advance.

What is the process for renting a tuxedo?
1. Choose your tux/suit style and accessory options from our catalog in our shop or online.

2. Register your wedding party in our shop, online with our event manager or with our online form.

3. Get measured in our shop or, if you are out of town, get measured in your area and send us your measurements using this link. Remember, we need measurements 30 day prior to the wedding and rush charges will apply less than 7 days prior. CHILDREN SHOULD WAIT TO GET MEASURED 14 DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT. This link will direct you to a shop where you can get measured in your area.

4. Submit measurements & payment for your rental 30 days prior to your event. Your tuxedo will NOT be reserved until we receive at least a 60% payment.  We can run out of sizes and styles, so get your measurements an payments in ASAP.   Rush charges will apply for payments received less than 7 days prior.

Can I measure myself?
We do not recommend that you measure yourself. Use this form and go to a tuxedo shop in your area to get measured.  We cannot guarantee your fit unless we have all the measurements on the form.

What if I don’t want a jacket?
We offer coatless packages so your guys are perfectly matched to compliment your wedding.

What is included in the rental?
Generally jacket, pants, shirt, tie and vest or cummerbund. Rental packages vary based on what the groom ordered. Shoes are extra and not included unless the groom ordered them. Fitted shirts and suspenders are available as an upgrade.

When do I pick up my tuxedo?
Orders will be ready 2-3 days prior to your event unless it is a rush order. You and the members of your event should make time to try on your tuxedo as soon as it arrives. We will notify everyone by text when your order is ready. Do not wait until the last minute to come in and try on. We need time to to make adjustments, if necessary. Evening appointments are available for late arrivals. You may take the tuxedo with you the day you try it on.

What if it doesn’t fit?
Don’t worry. We want you to have a good fit. That is why we need you to come in as soon as possible, preferably 2 days prior, to try on your tuxedo. Minor alterations can be made in the shop. If the fit is off, we can re-order and get you the correct size.

When do I return my rental?
Return tuxedos, on hangers if possible, by 5PM the Monday after your event (for weekend events). We are NOT open on Sundays. If you are leaving town before Monday, you may have someone else return your rental. A $50 per day late fee will be charged for each day the tuxedo is not returned by the return date.

What if I am going on an extended vacation or cruise?
We offer extended rentals for these situations.

What if I need to make a style change?
Changes can be made up to 14 days prior at no additional charge. After that, charges may apply.

What if I need to cancel my order?
Cancellations can be made up to 14 days prior to the event. A $50 cancellation fee will apply. In the event of an entire group cancelling, a $50 event cancellation fee plus the $50 individual cancellation fee will apply.
